Fresh Tomato Salsa Recipe
Ingredients:
4 pounds vine-ripened red and/or orange tomatoes (about 5 medium tomatoes)
1/2 medium onion (preferably white)
1 cup fresh cilantro sprigs
2 fresh Serrano or jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
2 teaspoons minced garlic
2 teaspoons sugar
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Directions:
- Cut tomatoes in quarters and seed them. Then dice and transfer to a bowl.
- Finely chop onion to measure 1/2 cup and chop cilantro.
- Stir chilies, onion, cilantro, and garlic into bowl with tomatoes and add sugar and lime juice.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Serve with corn tortilla chips.
Serve with whole grain chips or pita bread for a healthier take on the recipe!
