An exercise plan that involves functional fitness

in

The first rule of exercise is that it should be fun, at least some of the time, since most people will get bored with a formula that never changes and that doesn’t incorporate some enjoyable elements. That’s why fitness instructors create programs like Zumba, and Tae Bo and even Kindegarten Bootcamp. Another important element in an exercise program is to consider whether or not the workout helps your day-to-day activities and movements. If you are planning to get pregnant and will then have a baby that needs constant lifting, it would make sense that some of your exercise efforts mimic that lifting motion and help to build muscles needed for that daily task.

The idea of functional fitness is to make sure you are capable of doing daily tasks without risk of injury. So depending on your personal needs, you can choose exercises that support the muscles required for these movements. From running to a bus (avoiding ankle and knee injuries) to reaching above your head for cans in the upper kitchen cabinets (avoiding a shoulder injury), we can all benefit from functional fitness!
