Don’t just watch TV – work out to it
It used to be that experts would tell you to work out during commercials in order to make your TV watching a more physical (and healthy) experience. With most programming offering a fair number of commercial interruptions, you could accumulate about 20-25 minutes of workout time during a one hour TV program. Why not just exercise for the entire hour?
Use the actual program minutes to do resistance training, which allows you to watch the TV while you count out repetitions and sets. You can also do your abdominal crunches during that time. Save the commercials for blasts of aerobic activity – jumping jacks, running in place, lunges and squats and push ups. After the one hour of exercise (and TV watching) if you still decide to watch more, then at minimum continue to get up and move around during commercial time. You can do the wash or cut up vegetables for next day meals or dust. Just keep moving!!
