A craving for red meat may indicate a possible iron deficiency but a healthier way to restore your iron stores is to eat dark leafy greens, like spinach or Swiss chard.
A craving for baked goods may indicate low cortisol levels and a healthier way to restore levels is to eat fruit or get in a workout.
If you crave chocolate you may have low levels of tyrosine, an amino acid that helps to create another brain chemical, dopamine. Choose dark chocolate which tends to be healthier.
Crave pizza on a regular basis? You can make a healthier version with whole wheat crust, low sugar/low sodium pasta sauce and toppings that include lots of vegetables and part skim cheese.
