HealthCorps kicked off its first annual fundraiser on May 10th, 2007 with the "Back to the Garden" Gala at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City. Editor-at-large of O Magazine, Gayle King hosted the star-studded event with special musical performances by multi-platinum five-time Grammy Award-nominee James Blunt and multi-platinum Grammy Award-nominee Musiq Soulchild. Special guests, speakers and attendees included Jessica Seinfeld, hockey legend Mark Messier, New York City Council Majority Leader Joel Rivera, Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa, Actress Tina Louise and more.
HealthCorps honored three supporters who have made significant contributions to the health and well-being of American youth and presented them with beautiful Tiffany crystal awards:
- The late Ahmet Ertegun (Founder of Atlantic Records)
- Kevin Liles (EVP, Warner Music Group)
- John J. Mack (CEO, Morgan Stanley)
During the cocktail hour, the 700 attendees had the opportunity to enjoy tasting tables from local healthy havens and listen to short versions of HealthCorps seminars taught by young coordinators.
HealthCorps is already planning next year's event, "The Enchanted Garden" Gala!
