In the District of Columbia, Coordinators and students educated participants at the NBC 4 Health and Fitness Expo about the amount of sugar in popular drinks. In Florida, they participated in beautification projects at Hialeah Senior High School and Tampa Bay Technical High School. In Mississippi, Coordinators took students on a field trip to the Nashville Civil Rights Museum. In New York and New Jersey, they supported kids causes with generationOn at James Weldon Johnson School and provided elderly care and lunch service at the Riverdale YM-YWHA. In Ohio, Coordinators and students did an obesity project or classroom cleanup. In Texas, they did a beautification project at an apartment complex. Coordinators have dedicated two years of their lives to helping others through service in HealthCorps®. The Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service called attention to the importance of such volunteerism.
