Garden of Good and Evil Gala

HealthCorps took its fight against child obesity to Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers for its fourth annual gala, the Garden of Good & Evil gala, held on Wednesday, April 21. HealthCorps' proactive health movement includes an in-school educational and mentoring program in 50 high schools in 9 states.

Hosted by HealthCorps Founders Dr. Mehmet Oz and his wife Lisa, the gala honored four individuals making considerable contributions to the health and well-being of American youth - Tara Guber, Founder of YogaEd; Gary Hirshberg, President and CE-Yo of Stonyfield Farm; George Naddaff, CEO of U Food Grill; and Kerry Rhodes, Safety with the Arizona Cardinals and Founder of Rhodes Foundation.

The star-studded event offered a magical evening of dining, dancing and entertainment. Guests were treated to performances by Caron Wheeler, two-time Grammy winner and former lead singer of Soul II Soul; Actor , Performer and Diabetes Awareness Advocate Ben Vereen; and Broadway actor, producer and choreographer Stepp Stewart who returned with his dance troupe to perform an original gala song and dance composition. The Eturnity Band kept crowds moving on the dance floor. Hoopnotica provided demonstraitons of thier hoop fitness program. Starting in May 2010, they will be offering a special HealthCorps hoop. Proceeds from sales of the HealthCorps hoop will go to benefit HealthCorps through the end of the year.

Celebrity supporters and HealthCorps Ambassadors who came to support HealthCorps' mission to stem the rise in child obesity and turn Americans into health activists included R & B sensation Trey Songz; Actor and Model Adam Senn; Chef and Author Rocco DiSpirito; Acresss and Author Carol Alt; ESPN Anchor Jesse Palmer; Miss USA 2009 Kristen Dalton; Miss Universe 2009 Stefania Fernandez of Venezuela; Mayor of Sacramento and former NBA Star Kevin Johnson and four-time Olympian and author Joetta Clark Diggs.
