Curriculum Partners

HealthCorps acts as a Hub in Schools bringing together other evidenced-based initiatives through our curriculum and events to coalesce efforts with a shared mandate of making students and communities happier and healthier.  We work with many national and local organizations to incorporate their techniques into the HealthCorps curriculum.  Local partners are featured on our individual school program Facebook sites.

  • Healthy Weight Commitment:   HealthCorps is a member and supports their initiatives
     
  • Columbia University Urban Design Lab: the Lab works to help guide our FitTown projects
     
  • Alliance for a Healthier Generation:  Our Coordinators utilize the Alliance’s School Wellness Council Toolkit to help build and evaluate their School’s Wellness Council http://www.healthiergeneration.org/uploadedFiles/For_Schools/Helpful_Too... .  The Alliance is a joint venture between the American Heart Association and Clinton Foundation
     
  • Albert Einstein College of Medicine:  Working with HealthCorps Department of Education on program efficacy
     
  • Amen Clinics:  Our Coordinators will be trained in the “Making a Good Brain Great” Course developed by Dr. Daniel G.   • American Association for Health Education: Partners with HealthCorps on advocacy for prioritization of health education in core curriculum

  • Communities in Schools: HealthCorps coordinators work with CIS in all crossover schools to enhance the CIS health mandate
     
  • Cornell Center for Behavioral Economics in Child Nutrition  Programs (“BEN Center”)/ Smarter Lunchrooms founded by Dr. Brian Wansink, author of “Mindless Eating”.  Our Coordinators use BEN Center tricks and tools to try to improve School Food and Settings http://smarterlunchrooms.org/

  • National Green Schools Network, founded by James McGraff.   Our Coordinators distribute their “Greenprint” http://greencharterschools.org/ laying out the easiest steps a school can take to save money while “greening” their building.
     
  • Mental Workout.com/The Happiness Foundation, founded by Mickey Beyer-Clausen.  Mental Workout will offer their current apps for sleep, meditation, addiction, stress to HC Coordinators and students free of charge as a part of our curriculum.  http://www.mentalworkout.com/

  • Sahaja Meditation , Alan Wherry, US Director.  Our Coordinators are trained in the Sahaja Meditation technique and instruction is offered in all HealthCorps high schools free of charge by Sahaja volunteers as a component of our Mental Resilience curriculum http://www.sahajameditation.com/
